How to Rubber Up with a Rubberist

Rubberist: Hello my name is James and I am a rubberist.

How long have you been a rubberist?

Rubberist: I started right when I joined the scene, about 18 years old and I'm now 44. If you use some maths, you can work that one out.

How did you discover your fetish?

Rubberist: One of the first events I went to, there were people wearing rubber there. I loved the smell. I'm very attracted to the feeling and it exploded from there.

What are the most difficult things about wearing rubber?

Rubberist: It can be very delicate and you've got to be careful about people wearing sharp jewellery, heels, things like that. That's the hardest things about it really.

How does it make you feel, all rubbered up?

Rubberist: It's very comforting. I feel like I'm put in a cocoon, the way it squeezes on your body and the way it smells, the way it feels when you touch yourself, when you're wearing rubber gloves and you're wearing rubber on your body.

How long can you stay in rubber, and is it difficult to get out of?

Rubberist: I've been in rubber for up to 12 to 14 hours before when I've gone from one club to another, like an after party. To get out of it, the easiest way is just to jump in the shower. And while you're showering, just peel off yourself.

What is your favourite rubber item and why?

Rubberist: My favourite rubber item is probably my rubber doll suit. It's very comfortable. When I put it on, it's like putting on a new persona.

Have you ever gone to public places in rubber?

Rubberist: Yes, I have. A few years back, I did the BDSM Pride march on Oxford Street. And I've been to shops pre and post club. And I've also travelled on tube generally when it comes to clubs.

Is it a sexual turn on?

Rubberist: Most definitely, most definitely. The smell, the way it feels, the way sound and vibrations feel when you're close to the speaker, if you're using any sort of vibrating toys, when you can feel it on the rubber. It's amazing.

Do you like licking rubber?

Rubberist: Oh yes. I like everything about rubber. The texture when you're licking it is fantastic.

What is your rubber dream?

Rubberist: I really enjoy multiple layers, lots and lots of layers for a long time. Bit of restriction thrown in and then just to enjoy the cocoon.

Have you ever been in the rain in rubber?

Rubberist: I've been caught out going to clubs, but so far I've never frolicked in the woods wearing rubber, but it will happen one day.

How do you store and look after your rubber?

Rubberist: I clean it with a wash-up liquid called Ecover Zero, which is a lot cheaper than any of the expensive branded stuff for cleaning rubber. Once it's dry, I will use a non-perfumed talc to protect the rubber, and I store it in bags in a box.
